Gov. J.B. Pritzker easily won the Democratic Party over Beverly Miles, a little-known nurse who won 8-percent of the vote.

And state Sen. Darren Bailey won the Republican gubernatorial nomination, setting the stage for a farmer vs. billionaire ballot showdown in November.

  • Former state Treasurer Alexi Giannoulias won the Democratic Party nomination to replace retiring Secretary of State Jesse White. Giannoulias topped Chicago City Clerk Anna Valencia, who was endorsed by White and Pritzker. He will face Republican state Rep. Dan Brady in November. (Patch)
  • Jonathan Jackson, the son of Civil Rights leader the Rev. Jesse Jackson, won the Democratic nomination to replace retiring U.S. Rep. Bobby Rush in Congress. The GOP primary was still too close to call late Tuesday. (Patch)
  • Authorities released tense video of a shootout between police and a gunman earlier this month in West Englewood. (FOX32)
  • The lifeguard shortage is real. Chicago Park District officials said they've only been able to recruit 55 percent of lifeguards needed for the summer. So, 12 pools won't open as planned on July 5, Jeff Arnold reports. (Patch)
