Pritzker Isolating After Close COVID-19 Contact, Tests Negative

Gov. J.B. Pritzker is working remotely after being in close contact with a staff member who tested positive for COVID-19.

"With the omicron variant spreading across the state, the governor is taking extra precautions to prevent the spread of the virus," Pritzker's office said in a statement.

The governor will be conducing meetings remotely through Sunday.

Lt. Gov. Juliana Stratton announced she tested positive with a breakthrough case of COVID-19 on Dec. 30.

"I have mild symptoms and will isolate as I recover, Stratton said on Twitter. "I’m so relieved to be fully vaccinated and boosted."
