QB Mitch Trubisky To Start For Chicago Bears
Let the Trubisky Era begin as the team benches Mike Glennon following last week's loss to the Green Bay Packers.

CHICAGO, IL — The national TV stage provided by "Monday Night Football" helped make a star out of William "The Refrigerator" Perry in 1985, and it looks like the primetime NFL showcase could do same for another Chicago Bears rookie. Quarterback Mitch Trubisky has been named the Bears' Week 5 starter against the Minnesota Vikings on Oct. 9, according to ESPN. Trubisky replaces the beleagured Mike Glennon, who had four turnovers in Thursday's loss to the Green Bay Packers.
Fans have been clamoring for Trubisky to start since the preseason when the rookie threw for 364 years with three touchdowns and no interceptions. The cries grew louder thanks to Glennon's inconsistent regular season play, which culiminated in the free agent signing becoming the only Bears player in 40 seasons to turn the ball over three times in a half in a season's first four games, ESPN reports.
The Bears traded up in the 2017 NFL draft to take Trubisky as the second overall pick despite starting only 13 games at the University of North Carolina. Chicago had already signed Glennon, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers backup quarterback, to a three-year, $45 million after the team parted ways with another troubled signal-caller, Jay Cutler. At the start of the season, Patch picked the Bears' upcoming Monday night matchup as one of this year's must-see games. Here's also what we had to say about Trubisky's chances of starting in that game:
"Will Trubisky start? Maybe. The Monday night stage made William Perry a national sensation in 1985, and it might be able to do the same for Trubisky more than three decades later. Although it's probably too early for him to roll out 'Super Bowl Shuffle 2: 2017 Remix.' "
Is that close enough to say we called it?
