  • Former Chicago police officer Jason Van Dyke, who was convicted of murdering Laquan McDonald, gets out of prison early on good behavior Thursday. The NAACP wants the U.S. Attorney General to take action. "Given the egregious nature of his crime, the NAACP believes that at a minimum, the murderous officer should be charged with a federal civil rights violation," the letter states. (Patch)
  • R. Kelly tested positive for coronavirus in prison. Now, the disgraced hip-hop star is asking for more time to prepare an appeal of his conviction on federal racketeering charges related to a sex-trafficking that included having sex with underage girls. (Patch)
  • Cook County prosecutors on Tuesday agreed to dismiss 19 convictions connected to corrupt Chicago police Sgt. Ronald Watts, who was convicted and sentenced to prison in 2013 of stealing money from an FBI agent posing as a drug dealer. For a decade, Watts and a crew of corrupt cops patrolled the former Ida B. Wells housing project. (Patch)
  • The Blackhawks are putting their best "hockey minds" together to help search for a new general manger. Former Hawks players Eddie Olczyk, Marian Hossa and Patrick Sharp signed on to aid the job search. (Patch)
