Chicago police union boss John Catanzara suggested that he retired before the Police Board could fire him for filing false reports — and too many other misconduct allegations to list —because he's a political target of Mayor Lori Lightfoot.

Police Board data seems to tell a different story, which Catanzara's former colleagues in blue might want to pay attention to if they ever find themselves in his position.

The percentage of cops facing termination hearings who ultimately kept their jobs has significantly decreased under Lightfoot, who predicted the police union would face a "reckoning."

  • Speaking of FOP boss John Catanzara. Looks like he's got no shot at becoming Chicago's next mayor, according to a new political poll. Catanzara's obsession with Nazis could have something to do with it. Or his vile social media posts. Or that time he allegedly harassed his ex-girlfriend. The poll wasn't very specific. (Fox32)

  • What sounded like a joke — an alderman's pitch to study whether it's a good idea for Chicago taxpayers to buy the Bears — got support from Mayor Lori Lightfoot. "Why not?" she said. (NBC5)
