UPDATED: The United Airlines flight landed in Ireland on Monday because of a possible security issue.

CHICAGO, IL — A Chicago-bound United Airlines flight from Rome was diverted to Ireland on Monday over a possible security issue, according to CNBC. Flight 971 landed in Shannon, Ireland, after a threatening note was found on the plane, the report added.

The Boeing 767-300 touched down in Ireland at 2:15 p.m. Monday, June 11, local time. Authorities in that country confirmed to CNBC that a note was found on the plane, but they would not disclose the details of it. Passengers aboard the flight were being searched, the report added.

United would not comment on why the flight was diverted to Shannon. The airline said online that it would work with 207 passengers and 11 crew members to rebook flights and find overnight accommodations. Flight 971 passengers are expected to be in Chicago by Tuesday, June 12, according to the airline.
