Roof Torn Off Apartment Building, Thousands Without Power After Severe Storms In Chicago Area, Reports Say
The apartment building in Mount Prospect was evacuated, reports said. Nearly 60,000 homes and businesses had no electricity late Saturday.

CHICAGO, IL — Nearly 60,000 homes and businesses remained without power late Saturday night following severe storms that blasted the Chicago area, according to reports.
The storms brought down trees and tore the roof off an apartment building in Mount Prospect, NBC 5 reported.
Commonwealth Edison Company was reporting 59,466 customers without power in the region as of 11:30 p.m. There was no estimate of when power would be restored.

"Thank you for your patience as crews assess damage caused by storms with high winds and restore service as safely and as quickly as possible," the company said on its website. "Estimated restoration times can change based on what crews discover onsite."
Customers can sign up on the ComEd website to get alerts on when power might be restored.

The storms moved through around 6 p.m. with a second round about 7 p.m., ABC 7 Eyewitness News reported.
The 60-unit apartment building in Mount Prospect was evacuated due to the damage to the building, and it was unclear whether or when they would be allowed to return, that report said.
The storm's winds, up to 60 mph, brought down numerous trees throughout the area and damaged multiple vehicles.
More storms were anticipated on Sunday, the reports said.
