Second Chicago Firefighter Dies From Coronavirus Complications
Midway Airport firefighter Edward Singleton, 55, died from complications from the new coronavirus.

CHICAGO — Chicago firefighter Edward Singleton died from complications of the new coronavirus Tuesday, officials said.
Singleton, 55, who joined the fire department in 1987, was stationed at Midway Airport, where at least one other fire department employ has tested positive for COVID-19, sources said.
Singleton is the second Chicago fire department employe to die from coronavirus. As of Tuesday, 98 fire department employees have tested positive for COVID-19.

Singleton is survived by his wife, Nicol, and two adult children, officials said.

"We don’t need to lose another CFD member to understand the gravity of the circumstances that first responders are currently operating under. In the midst of our mourning the loss of yet another one of our brothers, CFD members must diligently follow guidelines and protocols in order to ensure the safety of themselves, the public they serve, and their families," fire Commissioner Richard Ford II said in a statement.
