Severe Thunderstorm Watch Until 10 P.M.
Cloud-to-ground lightning and lime-sized hail possible as storms sweep into northern Illinois this evening.
A Severe Thunderstorm Watch has been issued for northern Illinois and will be in effect until 10 p.m. The following counties are included: Cook, DuPage, Grundy, Kane, Kankakee, Kendall, Lake, McHenry and Will, as well as counties further west out to Rockford and the state line.

The National Weather Service warns that hail the size of half dollars or limes — yes, limes — could fall amid heavy downpours, damaging wind gusts of 60-70 mph could develop, and we could see frequent cloud-to-ground lightning.
The storms could begin as early as 3 p.m. but the severe weather most likely will hit between 5 p.m. and 11 p.m. The NWS indicates that a "brief tornado cannot be ruled out" as a possibility. Parts of of southern Wisconsin, far eastern Iowa and northwestern Indiana are also included in the severe storm watch.
