Shooting Reported Outside Hawthorne Racecourse | Update
Police and ambulances on scene; harness races postponed Sunday night but will resume.

STICKNEY, IL — Several shots were fired outside Hawthorne Racecourse Sunday night during the harness races, sending spectators spilling out onto the course. The shots reportedly were fired in the parking lot as a Belize cultural festival was taking place.
Police from Stickney, McCook, Lyons, Cicero and Chicago responded to the scene near 3501 S. Laramie Ave. in Stickney, as well as four ambulances, at about 8:30 p.m.
“A couple of people” were shot, a dispatcher for Stickney told the Chicago Tribune. An emergency call for "multiple shooting victims" went out at about 8:30 p.m. The condition of the injured was not available late Sunday.

People watching the races on closed-circuit simulcast reported their screens went black. The races were halted, but racecourse officials resumed the races around 9:30 p.m.
