Cmdr. Paul Bauer: Wake, Funeral Set For Fallen Chicago Officer

Services will be at the church in the Bridgeport neighborhood where the fallen officer had lived with his wife and teenage daughter.

CHICAGO, IL — A wake and funeral services have been set for Friday and Saturday, respectively, for Chicago police Cmdr. Paul Bauer who was killed earlier this week. Bauer, 53 and a 31-year veteran of the Chicago Police Department, was shot multiple times Tuesday at the Thompson Center while chasing a man who had fled officers as they tried to question him earlier.

The wake will be from 3 to 9 p.m. Friday, Feb. 16, at Nativity of Our Lord Church, 653 W. 37th St., in the Bridgeport neighborhood, where Bauer had lived with his wife, Erin, and 13-year-old daughter, Grace, according to Chicago police. It will be open to the public, and Bauer will be honored at 6 p.m. by the St. Jude Police League of Chicago at the church.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 17, at the church. The service will only be for family, friends and law enforcement and other officials. Interment for Bauer will be at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, 6001 W. 111th St., in Alsip.
