Snowy Thursday Morning Rush Hour Predicted

Winter Weather Advisory begins at 11 p.m. tonight. Expect slippery road conditions and the possibility of snow combining with rain: NWS.

The National Weather Service issued a Winter Weather Advisory for Cook, DuPage, Kane, Kendall and Will counties, effective as of 11 p.m. Wednesday through 2 p.m. Thursday.

The heaviest snowfall is expected early in the morning through mid-morning and will diminish into Thursday afternoon. Snow accumulation forecast calls for 2 to 3 inches, with some localized 4-inch measurements.

The morning commute will be adversely affected as visibility will be less than one mile.

Expect slippery road conditions, warns the NWS.

"This will not be a significant snow event," says the NWS, "but it will have poor timing right with the commute. Temperatures are expected to rise to several degrees above freezing well south of I-80 by mid day, so the snow could mix with or change to rain."
