Widespread showers and thunderstorms are sweeping through northern Illinois tonight. The storms have the potential to be severe in some areas, and 50-to-60-mile-per-hour winds are reported in south Cook County and Will County at this hour.
A thunderstorm warning was in effect until 8 p.m. Torrential rainfall and flash-flooding are possible.

The high winds south and southwest of O'Hare International Airport are disrupting flight paths into the airport and causing delays of up to two hours for flights departing Chicago.
