Storms Slow Morning Commute
Slow going and accidents on every major route Wednesday morning. Check the Patch traffic and transit guide and latest weather info.

Rain and accidents are making the morning commute a slow one across the Chicago area's entire interstate system.
Today's Weather
An area of rain will spread to the north-northeast across the area early this morning, and will last through mid-morning before diminishing, reports the National Weather Service. A rumble or two of thunder is possible this morning. A cold front will then push across the area this afternoon, with isolated to scattered thunderstorms expected to develop along and east of the front, generally east and south of a Pontiac to Chicago line.
A few of these storms may be strong to severe, capable of producing damaging winds and locally heavy downpours. Shower and storms will end from west to east through the afternoon and early evening hours.
