Sun's Out, Guns Out? Google Street View Captures Emblematic Chicago Scene

Maybe. Probably. Judge the photo for yourself.

Two young men on a Chicago street corner last fall are jaw-bonin’ as the Google Maps Street View car goes rolling by recording everything along its path.

And what does the camera spy on this sunny day? A young woman, perhaps, flashing the camera? No, a young man casually flashing a handgun, the new symbol of Chicago, the city of constant gunfire, record-setting body count and frequent stray-bullet woundings.

The photo was posted this week to a Reddit thread. There’s some debate among Redditors about whether the fuzzy image is really a weapon. SoopNazi clamors: THAT’S NOT A (BLEEPING) GUN PEOPLE.

Still, various Google Street View angles strongly suggest that is a bleeping gun.

I love how casually he’s holding it, in broad daylight, with his friend just hanging out.

It looks like he’s holding a cell phone by the corner or end possibly, not sure, but it’s definitely not any production firearm that I can imagine.

Certainly looks like he’s gripping a pistol. That doesn’t look like any normal cell phone.

What are the odds this guy is dead? Google image is from November 2015.

A notable image for sure, but not unique. Here’s another one. And a worse one.

If only there were more Chicago boobie shots on Google Street View and fewer guns, the city might be a happier place.
