Supreme Court Delays Ruling On National Guard Deployment In Chicago
The decision on Wednesday follows an extension of a block on federal troops coming to the city made by a judge last week.

CHICAGO — A decision by the Supreme Court on whether to allow the deployment of the National Guard in the city is on hold. The court said Wednesday it needs more time to rule on whether the Trump administration can legally send the troops to Chicago as part of its ongoing "Operation Midway Blitz" immigration enforcement effort.
Asking for additional briefing in the case, the justices indicated a decision won't be made until Nov. 17 at the earliest. Last week, U.S. District Court Judge April Perry ruled that she will extend her previous order to block the deployment of troops in the city.
Perry had indicated at the time that the extension will likely remain in place until a full trial or a ruling by the Supreme Court, the latter of which the Trump administration had previously requested to legally weigh in on.
