Suspect Shot After Breaking Into CPD Homan Square Police Facility

Police were conducting tactical training at the time of the break-in.

CHICAGO (CBS) – One person was critically injured and a Chicago police officer was hospitalized after a suspect snuck into the CPD's evidence storage facility in Homan Square and pointed a gun at officers.

The Homan Square facility houses the Chicago Police Department's evidence and recovered property section, and is also used as a base for some of the department's specialized units, including the Bureau of Organized Crime, the SWAT Unit, Evidence Technicians, and the CPD ballistics lab.
