Taxi Hits Navy Pier Pedestrians After Crash With Ride-Share SUV
Eight people were hurt in the accident Saturday. Chicago police cited both drivers in the incident.

CHICAGO — A crash between a taxi and a ride-share SUV Saturday afternoon near Navy Pier injured eight people, mostly pedestrians. The drivers of both vehicles were cited in the accident, according to the Chicago Tribune.
The accident happened at around 4:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 1, in the 600 block of East Illinois Street, the report stated. According to a witness, the cab hit the SUV, which was carrying passengers, after turning left onto Illinois, the report added.
Pedestrians who were walking around Navy Pier were hit after the taxi jumped a sidewalk, the report stated. The cab also slammed into a pole following the crash with the SUV, the report added.

The injured pedestrians were taken in good condition to Stroger Hospital, Northwestern Memorial Hospital and Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center, the report stated. The cab driver also was hurt and taken to the hospital following the accident, the report added.

Police cited the SUV's driver for running a red light, and the cabbie received two citations for not watching out for pedestrians, the Tribune reports.
