Terrible, Toews / Coach Q Quits / Chili / Cheers, Joakim Noah

"Coach Q" quit with quickness Thursday, shortly after a chat with the NHL commissioner about former first-round draft pick Kyle Beach's 2010 sexual assault allegation, which a probe found the Blackhawks covered up so not to derail the team's Stanley Cup title run. Florida Panthers head coach Joel Quinneville, who lead the Blackhawks to three Stanley Cup championships, said in a statement, "My former team, the Blackhawks, failed Kyle and I own my share of that."

Maybe Blackhawks captain Jonathan Toews shouldn't be the team's ice leader anymore after skating on his responsibility to his teammates in tone-deaf post-game comments on the sexual assault scandal that coincided with a 2010 Stanley Cup Championship.

  • The "Dread Head Cowboy" wants Mayor Lori Lightfoot to vouch for him in court. Adam Hollingsworth, who faces felony animal cruelty charges for riding his horse on the Dan Ryan Expressway, is representing himself in court. (Patch)
  • Joakim Noah is my favorite, post-Jordan era Chicago Bull. I love how he hustled, talked trash about Cleveland and, maybe, most importantly, showed love to Chicago kids through his foundation's art outreach programs. Thank goodness, the Bulls made him a team ambassador. He helped make the Bulls — and our city — better. (Patch)
  • The sexual abuse scandal that has rocked the Chicago Park District now includes felony charges. A 32-year-old former Chicago Park District supervisor was charged with sexually assualting a 16-year-old lifeguard. (Patch)
  • A snow monkey momma at Lincoln Park Zoo used a touchscreen to pick a name for her bouncing male newborn. Mitoa, a 15-year-old Japanese macaque, selected the name Minato, which means "port." (Patch)
