These 3 Chicago-Area Restaurants Are Among America's Best: Ranking

Yelp recently released its Top 100 U.S. Restaurants of 2025, with three Chicago-area spots making the list.

CHICAGO — Three of America’s best restaurants are in the Chicago area, according to a recent ranking from Yelp.

The business review website recently released Yelp’s Top 100 U.S. Restaurants 2025. The annual list includes everything from casual spots to fine-dining destinations. To determine the rankings, Yelp considered ratings and review volume, among other factors.

The following Chicago-area restaurants made the list:

New Village Gastro Pub, Northbrook — No. 22

This north suburban spot inspired by Korean street food stalls has a 4.8 rating and 221 reviews.

“New Village Gastro Pub is always a hit everytime I come here! It's a great restaurant to unwind with friends especially during the weekends,” Yelp user Athena R. wrote in her review. “My go-to order here is rosé tteokbokki. The sauce is very creamy and it pairs well with Korean fried chicken.”

Lawrence Fish Market, Chicago — No. 54

This sushi spot in the Albany Park neighborhood has been serving customers for over 40 years and has a 4.5 rating with 1,200 reviews.

“Elegant and efficient, this place has become a Chicago staple,” according to Yelper Nick S. “Fresh fish from Japan arranged without flaws into various maki's and sushi’s.”

Virtue Restaurant, Chicago — No. 71

A southern American eatery in the Hyde Park neighborhood, Virtue has a 4.5 rating and 1,000 reviews.

“The ambiance was warm and cozy, the music was good, the drinks were delicious, the food was excellent and the server was funny and attentive - what more do you want?” raved Yelper Mayra F. “Not many restaurants can hit all these things at once. I've had this restaurant on my bucket list for a while and it did not disappoint. A must visit when I'm back in the Chi! I will dream about the short rib!!!”
