Here are the top stories in Chicago today:
1. Chicago is expanding its travel advisory to include all 49 states in the U.S. outside of Illinois. Unvaccinated visitors are encouraged to quarantine for 10 days or record a negative COVID-19 test. The city is averaging 16.5 new cases per day per 100,000 residents, according to the Chicago Department of Public Health. (WTTW)
2. COVID-19 hospitalizations in Illinois have reached their highest level since early spring, according to the Illinois Department of Public Health. For the first time since February, more than 550 patients are in intensive care units across the state after contracting the virus. (Patch)
3. A Chicago woman was arrested this week for falsely reporting a bomb at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport. The 46-year-old said there was an explosive device in her checked luggage after she was too late to board her flight Monday night. (AP)
4. Former Illinois Senator Adlai Stevenson III died Monday in his home on the North Side. His family said the 90 year old had dementia. (WBEZ)
5. The City of Chicago has issued at least 30 citations to local businesses failing to adhere to the Illinois indoor mask mandate. Patrons are required to wear masks in all indoor settings, regardless of vaccination status. (Eater)
