Urine Bomber Busted/ Carjack Taskforce/ Bears Hike Prices / Tacos

Was remote learning connected to a spike in carjackings? Mayor Lori Lightfoot thinks so.

"Having talked to state's attorneys who were dealing with these cases in juvenile court, and others, a lot of parents went to work during the day thinking their teenagers were logged on for remote learning, only to find something else," the mayor said.

Carjackings are down 23 percent so far this year. Police are set to make the task force a 24-hour operation.

  • The North Side urine-bomber has been caught, authorities said. Bright I. Ibeh was charged Sunday with two felonies related to separate attacks against women who say they were soaked with urine while walking in Andersonville and Lincoln Square. (CWB)
  • After an abysmal season, the Bears want fans to pay more for tickets. "A new era of Chicago Bears football is here under the leadership of general manager Ryan Poles and head coach Matt Eberflus," Bears officials said in an email to season-ticket holders that included word of the 6-percent ticket-price hike. (Patch)
  • There were 273 shootings, including 24 homicides, on expressways last year. On Monday, Gov. Pritzker announced that 20 people have been charged for expressway-shooting related offenses. (Patch)
  • The Houston Texans have hired Lovie Smith as head coach. Smith — the former Bears, and University of Illinois sideline general — became the NFL's fifth minority active head coach. (USA Today)
  • A 21-year-old Chicago woman was charged with felony retail theft for attempting to steal $17,000 in coat Saturday from a Neiman Marcus store in Oak Brook, authorities said. Terri Collins is being held on $50,000 bond. (Patch)
