Vaccinated Residents Only At Chicago Concert Series
Chicago officials announced the Protect Chicago Music Series on Wednesday morning. Attendees have to show their vaccination card to get in.

CHICAGO — The city announced Wednesday that Chicago will host a series of concerts exclusively for residents who get vaccinated against COVID-19.
The first concert will be May 22 in Hyde Park, with performances by DJ Ron Trent and Duane Powell, both Chicago natives.
Attendees must be fully vaccinated to secure a spot, meaning they've received the final dose of a two-dose vaccine or a single-dose vaccine on or before May 8, two weeks prior to the first concert.

Each concert is a ticketed event, and concertgoers will be required to bring their CDC vaccination card and a matching photo ID, according to city officials. Tickets will be available via Eventbrite and at designated vaccination clinics.

Tickets will first be offered to those who receive the Johnson & Johnson vaccine on May 8 at Apostolic Faith Church on South Indiana Avenue. The rest will drop at noon, May 11, at thesilverroom.com. Most information on the May 8 clinic can be found at https://rebrand.ly/MusicSeries.
In addition to free White Castle, Krispy Kreme and other incentives, Chicago public health officials hope added rewards for getting vaccinated will raise the city's rates. One city in downstate Illinois is even offering 100 free shooting targets to residents who attend a vaccination clinic at the local gun range.
As of Tuesday, about one-third of Illinois residents were fully vaccinated. No capacity has been announced for the Protect Chicago Music Series, but more artists and performers are expected to join the series depending on demand.
