Voodoo Doughnuts Set For Weekend Chicago Grand Opening
The Portland-based sweet shop, known for its unique take on pastry creations and long lines, opens up in Fulton Market on Saturday morning.

CHICAGO — Voodoo Doughnuts, the Portland-based sweet shop known for its eclectic take on decadent pastry creations, will open its Chicago location on Saturday much to the delight of local sweets-seekers.
Voodoo Doughnuts, the creator of such confections as the Maple Bacon Bar and other doughnuts featuring unique ingredients such as cereal, candy, and other toppings, will open the doors to its pink-themed business on Saturday in Chicago’s Fulton Market neighborhood.
Chicago is among the business’s 22 U.S. locations and will be located at 945 W. Randolph Street. The shop will open on Saturday with a grand opening celebration at 8 a.m., officials with the brand announced.

Voodoo Doughnuts announced in October that it would be opening soon in Chicago in the storefront formerly occupied by Unami Burger. The company’s CEO, Chris Schultz, told Block Club Chicago that the business had been considering a Chicago location for several years, but remained on the hunt for the perfect location.

Fulton Market, known for its trendy restaurant and bar scene, became the winner of the search sweepstakes. The neighborhood, which plays home to some of the city’s best eateries that are recognized as the nation’s best, will welcome Voodoo Doughnuts, which adds to what Schultz called a “vibrant culinary landscape.”

That space, Schultz said, made it the ideal location for Voodoo’s “unique doughnut experience.”
The shop, which also features a jelly-filled, chocolate-frosted creation that plays on the theme of a voodoo doll, will also feature Chicago-specific items, officials said, which won’t be unveiled until this weekend’s grand opening event.
But be forewarned, all of the shop's locations in seven states, often come accompanied by long lines of customers since Voodoo first opened in Portland in 2003. The business opened its second Portland location in 2008 and has since added 19 more shops, expanding to places like Arizona, Texas and now Chicago.
