Watch This Weekend: 'Mrs. Maisel' Returns, Best Pictures Stream
PBS also offers a new spin on a beloved classic.

CHICAGO (Feb. 18, 2022) — From Emmy-winning series to annual competition shows, plenty of new viewing options drop Friday. For Chicago viewers, basic cable channels and neighborhood cinemas are offering the best new options for escaping the cold, COVID world for a few hours this weekend.
“Around the World in 80 Days”
The season finale of this old-fashioned adventure story will air Sunday night on WTTW, which gives you just enough time to catch up on the sweeping, updated version of the classic Jules Verne novel. David Tennant stars as Phileas Fogg on an epic quest to circumnavigate the globe by the titular timeline. After two years of missed trips and canceled travel because of COVID-19, it feels good to see the world from the living room. Stream the full season on PBS.org.

"The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel"
Midge (Rachel Brosnahan) and the gang are back for the penultimate season of this Emmy-winning series. Season four picks up in 1960 as the title character tries to find her footing in the comedy world after last season delivered a crushing blow to her career. The funny and fast-talking world of the Maisels is always a joy to step back into, thanks to the brilliant work of creators Amy Sherman-Palladino and Dan Palladino. It's especially welcome after a two-year wait. Stream the first two episodes on Amazon Prime Video.

“Inventing Anna”
Emmy winner Julia Garner tackles the complicated story of a scamming socialite who tricks New York high society out of money, clothing and luxury travel while scheming her way to building an exclusive arts empire. Garner is her usual brand of supreme talent in this nine-episode series from Shonda Rhimes, with familiar faces like Anthony Edwards, Laverne Cox and Anna Chlumsky. Now streaming on Netflix.

Academy Awards: Best Picture Nominees
Several films in the Best Picture race at next month's Oscars are still playing in theaters: “Belfast,” “Licorice Pizza,” “Nightmare Alley” and “Drive My Car” are all screening in Lakeview cinemas. "Dune" and "King Richard" can be rented on all digital platforms. “Don’t Look Up” and “The Power of the Dog” are streaming on Netflix. “CODA” is viewable with an Apple TV+ account and “West Side Story” will hit Disney+ on March 2. The Academy Awards will air March 27 on ABC.
“Jeopardy! College Championship”
Undergraduate students from across the country are in the bracket for this annual celebration of collegiate knowledge. One of only 36 finalists, Naperville native Yejun Kim represented Northwestern University on a recent episode. Stream the season so far on Hulu, or watch weeknights on ABC.
