Woman, 64, Fatally Struck By Car Crossing Street Friday Morning
The woman was crossing the street in the West Ridge neighborhood when she was hit by a car. The driver stayed on the scene, police said.
CHICAGO — A 64-year-old woman was struck and killed by a driver Friday morning while crossing the street, Chicago police said.
The woman was walking south on Maplewood Avenue at around 6 a.m. when she was hit by a car driven by a 40-year-old man, according to officials. The incident occurred near the 2500 block of West Devon Avenue in the West Ridge neighborhood.
The man stayed on the scene until the woman was taken to St. Francis Hospital where she was pronounced dead. Police have not released the woman's name pending an autopsy.
