Woman, Child Injured After Falling From Overpass Into I-90: ISP

The woman suffered life-threatening injuries after state troopers said they found her and a young child lying on the Dan Ryan Expressway.

CHICAGO – A woman is hospitalized with life-threatening injuries after she and a child were found lying in the Dan Ryan Expressway Monday afternoon.

Illinois State Police were called to Interstate 90 near the Interstate 290 ramp after reports of a woman threatening to jump along with a young child were received just after 12:30 p.m., a spokesperson said.

The woman was taken to a local hospital as was the child, who suffered non-life-threatening injuries after both fell from the overpass, the state police said.

The investigation into the incident is active and ongoing, the spokesperson said, and no further information is being released.

The Illinois Department of Transportation said that the ramps from the inbound Dan Ryan Expressway to the Eisenhower Expressway are blocked off as state police investigators continue to look into the incident.
