Photos Show Pack of Thugs Who Sent Woman Running for Her Life
Fleeing a robbery, she ran into Lake Shore Drive where she was struck and killed Sunday morning. Police released photos on Monday.

CHICAGO - Chicago Police released still images from a video that show the pack of men that tried to rob a couple early Sunday morning on Lake Shore Drive, sending them running into the street where they were struck by a passing truck.
The woman, Pamela Johnson, 32, was killed. The man was injured. He returned to his home on Monday.
A police spokesman says the video corroborates the man's story about the robbery. Police released photos hoping someone can identify any of the men.

Police said a group of men, at least one of whom showed a gun, approached the couple for a robbery near Ohio Street around 1:40 a.m. Johnson and her boyfriend, who were out for a late night on the town and were enjoying the view Lake Michigan, tried to get away and were struck near Huron Street.
Johnson, who lived in the South Chicago neighborhood, was mother to a 12-year-old boy, reports CBS Chicago. Johnson and her boyfriend were discussing their future together when the men approached, reports the Chicago Sun-Times.

“We don’t have all the details of what happened, but somebody please let us know what happened, because we would like to know,” her uncle, James Johnson, told CBS.
The Sun-Times reports they jumped over a barrier and when the men kept pursuing, Johnson and her boyfriend ran into Lake Shore Drive.
Her boyfriend, 43, was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital. He was released Monday.

With so many people coming downtown to enjoy the holiday weekend, Chicago Police increased Lake Shore Drive patrols and assigned additional officers working overtime to high-crime areas on the West Side, as well as in city parks and beaches.
Johnson's death, as well as other crimes, prompted police to add to their patrols.
