World Sake Day at Ikigai Sushi and Izakaya

Week-Long Celebration Features Discounted Sake Selections

Ikigai Sushi and Izakaya will celebrate World Sake Day with a week-long sipping special. From Wednesday, October 2 to Sunday, October 6, the River North restaurant will offer 15% off all bottles of sake. Ikigai, which means "a reason for being", features 18 different sake selections by the bottle.

Ikigai offers thoughtful, authentic Japanese tavern fare and sushi by Chef Jeff Waiyachote (Sen Sushi Bar; Sushi-San; Momotaro). In addition to the nightly dinner menu, guests may partake in happy hour on Sunday, Monday, Wednesday and Thursday from 4:30-6 p.m. The happy hour menu includes select zensai (appetizers), kushiyaki (skewers), makimono, beer, sake and wine at a discounted price.

Those looking to experience a tasting menu may reserve Ikigai's intimate omakase held at the sushi bar. Chef Waiyachote's offerings include 15 or more courses for $149 per person. The omakase is available Friday and Saturday evenings at 7:30 p.m. Reservations must be made one week in advance.
