2-Year-Old Child Shot At Park Forest Home, In Critical Condition: PD

Police are uncertain whether the child was shot intentionally or accidentally at a local residence and was airlifted to undergo surgery.

PARK FOREST, IL β€” A 2-year-old child is in critical condition after police said that the youngster was shot in the abdomen on Friday morning.

The child was brought to an area hospital at 11:15 on Friday by a family member, who said the child was shot at a home in the 300 block of Forest Boulevard. police said. The child was immediately airlifted to Comer Children’s Hospital to undergo surgery. Park Forest police said.

Police are investigating the shooting and at this point, it is not known whether the child was shot accidentally or intentionally, police said. Park Forest Police are working with the assistance of the South Suburban Major Crimes Task Force.

Police said that the shooting remains an open investigation and that additional information will be provided when it becomes available.
