Alleged Drunken Driver Drove Wrong Way Down One-Way Street: Blotter

SUNDAY, APRIL 7

Following Too Closely, DUI Charge

Barry D. Jackson, 36, of the 500 block of Dixie Highway in Chicago Heights, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, DUI with a blood-alcohol level greater than 0.08, following too closely and improper lane use, according to a report. Jackson was stopped at about 10:38 p.m. near the intersection of 14th Street and Division Street. Police said he was tailgating another car. An officer reported smelling a strong odor of alcohol coming from Jackson’s breath. He was arrested after taking field sobriety tests. While in custody, Jackson took a breath test. He is due in Markham court on May 7.

DUI Charge for Chicago Heights Driver

Erica N. Williams, 27, of the first block of Olympic Village in Chicago Heights, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, DUI with a blood-alcohol level greater than 0.08, driving without lights when required, improper lane use and driving without insurance, according to a report. Williams was stopped after she was spotted driving the wrong way on a one-way street at about 2:50 a.m. near the intersection of Mackler Drive and Highland Avenue. Police reported smelling a strong odor of alcohol coming from her breath. She was arrested after taking field sobriety tests. Williams is due in Markham court on May 23.

Assault Charge

Ronald L. Kading, 66, of the first block of East 24th Street in Chicago Heights, was charged with assault, according to a report. Police were called at about 10:28 a.m. to the 2300 block of Chicago Road after someone noticed a man was picking through her garbage. While speaking with Kading, he allegedly pointed a finger and said “I’m gonna bury you like the mafia.” Other charges were pending. Kading is due in Markham court on May 13.
