Chicago Heights’ Generational Blessings Welcomes Pastor Donnie McClurkin

When Pastor Olivia Johnson of Generational Blessings Family Worship Center met with Pastor Donnie McClurkin last year, she didn't know that their meeting would have such a profound effect on both. She became acquainted with Pastor McClurkin during the planning of his first Perfecting Music Conference, which was launched in Chicago last year and has now become a national initiative.

In June 2010, Pastor Johnson attended a planning meeting that Pastor McClurkin had scheduled with Chicago Pastors who would partner as local hosts in launching his first Perfecting Music Conference which was scheduled to be held in August in conjunction with the Back to School Peace Jam sponsored by radio station 1390FM at the Faith Community of St. Sabina.

Answering the call, Pastor Johnson committed to assist. To boost conference participation, she personally mobilized and galvanized conference registrants, and members of her congregation volunteered to assist with the two-day conference from beginning to end. β€œPastor-to-Pastor and as a visionary myself, it became personal to me to do my part to ensure that Pastor McClurkin’s first music conference was successful and his vision to bring the Body of Christ together through music, faith and fellowship would come to pass,” said Pastor Johnson.

Pastor McClurkin learned about Generational Blessings’ support from his management team, and he met with Pastor Johnson at the conclusion and committed to return to her church in appreciation. On Tuesday, September 20, Pastor McClurkin fulfilled his promise and ministered salvation, healing and deliverance to a God-chasing crowd at Prairie State College, in Chicago Heights, which is Generational Blessings’ site location.

During the service, Pastor Johnson presented Pastor McClurkin with a β€œCommitment to Holiness” award on behalf of Generational Blessings, as” he has proven to be a man of Godliness and integrity.”

Pastor Johnson was very elated that Pastor McClurkin took away from his busy schedule to worship at her church. β€œYou didn’t have to be here,” Pastor Johnson told Pastor McClurkin. He said, β€œYes, I did. Yes, I had to be here. When God says go, I have to go.” Β She suggested further that he had other choices. β€œYou could have been anywhere,” Pastor Johnson told him.

β€œNo I couldn’t. That’s Jonah. Jonah went anywhere. He just decided he would go where he wanted to. No, I don’t have that choice. I have to go where He (God) sends me,” Pastor McClurkin added. β€œYeah, I did have to stop by here. When you are called to be a servant, you don’t have choices.”

And although he was receiving the award, Pastor McClurkin had praises for Pastor Johnson: β€œLast year we did a conference in Chicago. This woman wasn’t known by me; she really didn’t know me that well, but she has a heart of servitude, she has a humble heart. And without provocation, without even any invitation too, she availed herself and she worked so hard in our conference,” Pastor McClurkin said. β€œMy management has been singing her praises ever since then. And that’s why I’m here because the bible says in order for one to have friends, you’ve got to show yourself friendly. She showed herself friendly. She’s got a friend in me.”

People from all across the region attended the spirit-filled services. Beginning with the offering of worship led by Evangelist Dr. Cynthia Nunn and her chorale to Pastor McClurkin’s message, many lives were forever changed. β€œI don’t know everything that the Lord did, but I know he did some things for me,” said Evangelist Rosie Norman from Chicago. β€œMy ex-husband had been feeling really sick and in a lot of pain and barely able to stand on his feet. I stood proxy for him in the service and asked God People from all across the region attended the spirit-filled services. β€œI don’t know everything that the Lord did, but I know he did some things for me,” said Evangelist Rosie Norman from Chicago. β€œMy ex-husband had been feeling really sick and in a lot of pain and barely able to stand on his feet. I stood proxy for him in the service and asked God to heal him. He’s out of the hospital and has not had any pain since he’s been out and is walking like nothing was ever wrong.”

Kimberly Brown from Milwaukee’s Christian Faith Fellowship Church said: β€œYou go to service and service is good, but I needed more and I left there with more. I believe this ministry is a healing ministry, and it’s a powerful ministry. If I were not in Milwaukee, I would be in Chicago Heights under the direction of Pastor Olivia who can teach and mentor me. She is really beautiful.”

After the successful launch in Chicago last year, Pastor Donnie McClurkin’s Perfecting Music Conference continued this year with dates in Charlotte, North Carolina; Milwaukee; Montgomery, Alabama; Los Angeles; Philadelphia, and Dallas at the end of October, and Miami in mid-November.
