Chicago Heights, IL - Mayor Vincent J. Zaranti is joining other U.S. Mayors in over one hundred cities from across the nation in a special effort, coordinated by Harvard's Institute of Politics (IOP) and the U.S. Conference of Mayors, to commemoration the 50th anniversary of John F. Kennedy's presidency.
President Kennedy's inaugural address and call to service during his Inaugural Address 50 years ago today: "...ask not what your country can do for you; ask what you can do for your country..." has inspired classrooms from across the country to join in the discussion and "ask what youth can do" in making a difference within their schools and communities.
"I am pleased to participate in such an important initiative and discuss President Kennedy's powerful call to service. It is a timeless and timely message which still resonates today. It is a call for leadership and can serve as a motivating factor to all youth in making our schools and City a better place," said Mayor Zaranti.
