Fire Destroys Barn on Governors State Campus

The barn was used for storage and no one was injured in the Friday afternoon blaze.

A fire destroyed a barn used to store equipment on the Governors State University campus Friday afternoon. The fire broke out around 3 p.m., according to the university. The barn was not used for animals. No people were injured. Seven area fire departments responded to the blaze.

The barn was used only for storage and was never occupied by people. Nothing of significant value has been lost,” said GSU President Elaine Maimon on the university’s Facebook page.
