Chicago Heights To Get More Housing For Low Income Veterans: Officials
According to the Housing Authority of Cook County, money from the county will go to develop 82 units on land donated from Franciscan Health.

CHICAGO HEIGHTS, IL — The Housing Authority of Cook County is developing apartment units for low-income veterans, the organization announced.
According to officials, money for the project will come through a multimillion dollar loan from the county. Last week, officials announced the $4.25 million fund as an initiative to reduce homelessness across the south suburbs.
The Chicago Heights housing — which is planned for an existing building at 15th Street and Otto Boulevard — will include an exercise room, media room and community gardens.

So far, Cook County told Patch the four-story building will have capacity for 82 apartment units. Officials did not immediately respond to Patch's request for comment on how many low-income veterans would be housed within the units.
The land itself comes from a donation by Franciscan Alliance. The site formerly housed Franciscan Health's St. James offices before the hospital system moved to Olympia Fields.
