Clair Leads Rich Central to Volleyball Win over Bloom

The Olympians remained unbeaten in conference after Nakeyta Clair sparked a 25-20, 25-12 victory over the Blazing Trojans.

Two Southland Athletic Conference girls volleyball rivals squared off last Thursday when powered past , and Nakeyta Clair led the Olympians to a 25-20, 25-12 victory.

The University of Mississippi-bound Clair finished with 12 kills and five blocks for the Olympians (5-3 overall, 2-0 in conference).

Amber Fryer led Bloom (6-8, 1-1), finishing with six kills and five digs in the match.

Girls Volleyball: Marian Tops Andrew

Ros Byrd and Colleen Rynne led to a nonconference victory over Andrew on Sept. 12. Byrd tallied nine kills in the win, while Rynne handed out 20 assists against the Thunderbolts. Jasmine King and Amber Clay both had five kills each for Marian.

Boys Soccer: Marian Nets Tie Against H-F

Brian Tabor had five blocks in Marian's 1-1 tie with Homewood-Flossmoor on Sept. 12. The Spartans’ Alec Guarino netted the lone goal for the Spartans. The tie moved the Spartans to 7-2-3 on the year.

Boys Soccer: Rich East Overpowers Rich Central

Gavin Winston had three goals and three assists and Roymell Long scored three goals to lead Rich East to an 8-5 win over over Rich Central on Sept. 13.
