Former Ace Hardware Building For Sale: What Should Go Here?

CHICAGO HEIGHTS, IL — A vacant property near a busy intersection in Chicago Heights is for sale. The former Ace Hardware building near the corner of Joe Orr Road and Dixie Highway was featured this week as the 5th Ward Business Alliance's "Property of the Month." It's a 65,000 square-foot space with a parking lot large enough for 150 cars, according to the Chicago Heights Economic Development Corporation.

The property at 180 Joe Orr Road, of which 35,000 square feet is the former Ace building, is owned by the city of Chicago Heights. The CHEDC said the price is negotiable in its listing.

It's across the street from a business center that features County Squire Foods and Rainbow Clothing.

Incentives listed include its location in an "enterprise zone" and Class 8, which allows for an assessment at 10 percent of market value for 10 years.
