Four Local Athletes Named To Academic All-American Team

Four Prairie State College students were named to Academic All-American teams for their efforts in the classroom and on the field of play.

Four sophomores at Prairie State College made sure they put the student in student-athlete this year and are now being recognized for their efforts. Luke Coffman, Jim Miller, Danielle Zandstra and Eric Roberson were each named Academic All-Americans in their respective sports for the 2013-13 season.

β€œLuke Coffman, Danielle Zandstra, Eric Roberson and Jim Miller all represent the epitome of what a Prairie State College student-athlete stands for," PSC Academic Advisor for Athletics, Jacque Hoak, said in a press release.

Coffman and Miller, both baseball players, posted 3.7 and 3.77 GPAs, respectively, while Zandstra, a women’s basketball player notched a 3.83, and Roberson tallied a 3.8 while playing on the men’s soccer team.

β€œThese four Academic All-Americans set an example on and off the court and field that their teammates and other students strive to emulate,” Hoak continued in the release. β€œEach offered a unique contribution to their teams and were instrumental in the success of those teams this past year.”
