Heights and Homewood Cops Take to the Rooftops for the Special Olympics

Last Friday, police officers from the Chicago Heights and Homewood police departments spent hours atop local Dunkin Donuts locations.

As if there weren't enough societal connections between cops and doughnuts, at least this one's all about helping people.

Eight officers from the and the were perched atop Dunkin Donuts locations from 6 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on June 1, all to raise money for the Special Olympics.

Their efforts were rewarded with lots of community support and donations.

"We raised $1,000.00 from shirt, hat, and coffee mug sales and donations," said Sgt. Alex Romano of the Chicago Heights Police Department. "There were a number of generous people and the staff of Dunkin Donuts (was) great." Β 

Chicago Heights Police will also be participating inΒ the Law Enforcement Torch Run leading up to the Special Olympics state games. The Heights leg of the run will be June 12 and June 13.
