Breakup Prompts Cook County Correctional Officer
to Break into Home and Shoot Her Former Love
Erika Aguirre, 28, crept into the basement window of her former lover’s family early Monday morning, according to police, and opened fire on both her ex, Deisy Jaimes — shooting her in the head, arms and shoulders — and her ex’s father, critically wounding both. Aguirre, a Cook County correctional officer who once won a community award for “acts of compassion and kindness,”, then turned the gun on herself, firing a bullet into her head. Bridgeview police found Aguirre’s body on the kitchen floor. Her ex-girlfriend, 27, and the father, 52, were taken to a hospital. Others in the home escaped.
