Kappa Alpha Psi Celebrates 60 Years Serving Chicago Heights

On October 23, 1965, the Chicago Heights (IL) Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Incorporated was officially chartered, marking the beginning of a legacy built on service, leadership, and commitment to uplifting the community. Sixty years later, that legacy continues to thrive — stronger, more impactful, and more dedicated than ever.

For six decades, the chapter has stood as a pillar of hope and progress in the Chicago Heights community. Its mission has always been clear: to inspire achievement in every field of human endeavor while empowering individuals and families through meaningful programs and initiatives. From annual Turkey Drives and Food Pantry Distributions to impactful youth-focused efforts like Shopping with a Kappa, the Room 2 Read literacy initiative, and the acclaimed Guide Right and Kappa League Mentorship Programs, the chapter has consistently demonstrated what true service looks like.

Education remains at the heart of the chapter’s mission. Through the Chicago Heights Alumni Foundation, nearly $500,000 in college scholarships have been awarded to deserving students over the years, helping young people achieve their academic goals and pursue their dreams. This unwavering commitment to educational excellence is a testament to the chapter’s belief in investing in the future of the next generation.

This year, the Chicago Heights Alumni Chapter is proud to commemorate its 60th Anniversary Diamond Celebration with a weekend of events designed to honor the past, celebrate the present, and build the future:

• October 23, 2025: Room 2 Read – Kicking off the weekend by inspiring literacy and a love for learning in local schools.
• October 24, 2025: 60th Anniversary Celebration Party – A night of fellowship, music, and memories as brothers, families, and friends come together to celebrate six decades of service.
