Much-Liked Mayor and Fighting Facebook Trolls: Feedback Friday
We had a mix of good and bad news this week. Our Remarkable Resident was a hit, but the wrong people were hitting Hayley Pelock's Facebook page.

As usual, we want to thank our supporters for sticking with us and spreading the word about Chicago Heights Patch. This week we reached 389 likes on our Facebook fan page. That's a 13-like increase from last week!
We had a nice mix of interactions with Facebook fans and Patch users throughout the week, but there were a few moments that stood out.
Former Mayor Grabs the Most Likes
after serving two terms as the mayor of our city. We're on our fourth mayor since he left office, and readers still are anxious to here what Ciambrone has to say.

As our Remarkable Resident, Ciambrone's story grabbed the most Facebook likes of the week and sparked a few comments about the former mayor and the history of the Heights:
: There are not too many people who love Chicago Heights more than honest "Sam" Ciambrone. As the son of Italian immigrants, he lived and fulfilled the American dream. Growing up in Chicago Heights as a young boy or girl is as good as it gets. The town was full of life with our great downtown...

Tragedy vs. Trolls
One of the more unfortunate bits of news this week was another follow up to the . The admins for Pelock's memorial Facebook fan page notified us that on the page's wall.
Patch published statements from page admins Jacob Kosarko and Rosa Petrongelli in an effort to create more awareness about the issue of Internet trolling on memorial Facebook pages.
Kosarko thanked us but continued to express his disdain for trolling:
Thanks once again to Chicago Heights Patch for sticking with us & having our backs. This needs to be stopped. It's horrible. I have seen the worst stuff ever on the memorial Page for a girl named Shariah Casper. You won't believe the stuff that they can get away with here on Facebook.
Chowdown Time
Once again Homewood-Flossmoor Patch editor Ryan Fitzpatrick and I took to Facebook to pick our candidates for the next Chowdown Showdown. Ryan posted on our wall, asking who had the best waffles in Chicago Heights and H-F. He got a pretty bold response from a Patch local voice:
Art Wiggins Jr.: I assure you the best is in Chicago Heights.
Afterwards, we got some great suggestions for waffles in the Heights:
Faith Nichols: Big Apple
Art Wiggins Jr.: Big Apple...... BUT Egg and I has the best crepes.
Matt Wachtor: Skyline. Whole grain cinnamon baby!
I guess we'll see if Art is right about the Heights in the next showdown. No need to brag, but we did win the last two.
Thanks again for another wonderful week, Chicago Heights, Olympia Fields and South Chicago Heights.
