New Businesses, Snowy Roads and Halvorson's Blog: Facebook Friday

A glance at what's going on at the Chicago Heights Patch Facebook page.

Hop Hits the Heights

Earlier this week we reported on as part of our ongoing series highlighting the incoming and outgoing businesses in Chicago Heights.

In light of the 14th Street , we asked the Facebook crowd what they thought of coming in. What we got was a pretty straight-forward question from one Facebook fan.

Faith Nichols: People couldn't afford shoes so we will sell them cars instead? Sounds right...

Halvorson Catching Up?

Debbie Halvorson's campaign has maintained a Patch Local Voices blog for a few weeks now, occasionally posting what the 2nd District congressional candidate deems notable information. Most recently she posted an update , incumbent Jesse Jackson Jr.Β

One of our other Local Voices, Marc A. Wiley Sr., is an elected official himself, serving on the Board of Trustees. Wiley made an interesting observation regarding Halvorson's numbers.

Marc A Wiley: It would be interesting (to see) where the polls were taken. City of Chicago or Southland.

Another one of our Facebook fans made an early proclamation about her voting booth plans.

Ramie Formentini-Zara: She has my vote

Snowy Roads

Last week we got the first sizable snowfall of the winter, with enough flakes coming down to actually permit snowmen, snowangels and maybe even snowgods and devils.

I decided to ask Facebook fans how the roads were looking and got a couple of honest responses.

Teena Long: Route One cut-off and Halsted were not too bad but some towns really were terrible!!!

Marc A Wiley: Roads are still a bit slick. Working Bloom Township. Later when temperature drop(s). More problems.

Thanks for another week of good conversation and honest feedback. If you haven't done it yet, like the Chicago Heights Patch Facebook page for constant updates on what's going on in town.
