Olympia Fields Police Blotter: Pregnant Girlfriend Gets Choked; Accused Drunk Driver Chews a Cigarette

MONDAY, AUG. 1
Flower Thief
Christopher L. Steele, 19, of Park Forest, was charged with retail theft after a security guard at Jewel-Osco, 2500 Lincoln Hwy., told police he saw Steele take a flower arrangement, two greeting cards and a Conair kit, before walking beyond the last point of purchase.

Domestic Battery at Hospital
Quinton P. Aures, 20, of Lansing, was charged with domestic battery after a nurse at St. James Hospital in Olympia Fields told police Aures was choking his girlfriend in a hospital room. The girlfriend told police she found out she was pregnant and got into an argument with Aures before he assaulted her. Upon being caught by the nurse, Aures left the hospital and ran west across Crawford Avenue before being apprehended, according to the report.
'My Lawyer Will Take Care of Everything'
Ludwik Dziedzic, 55, of Chicago, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol after he was stopped for speeding and swerving on Vollmer Road, according to the report. Dziedzic initially stopped in the middle of the road when police turned the emergency lights on, then was advised to pull off the street. When police approached the car window, Dziedzic was seen putting an unlit cigarette in his mouth and chewing it. Police said that during the field sobriety tests, Dziedzic kept trying to get into the back of the squad car, stating, "Just close me, my lawyer will take care of everything."

SATURDAY, JULY 30
A Fight Over Flirting
Myles Rowe, 21, of Murfreesboro, Tenn., was arrested and charged with domestic battery after a 22-year-old Flossmoor woman told police he choked her inside a car. The woman said they got into an argument over another man flirting with her at the Tin Ceiling bar in Homewood, and the argument carried over into the car. Rowe told police the woman punched him in the face and that he "put his hands around her neck to calm her down."
Infinitely Egged
A 49-year-old Olympia Fields man told police his two Infinity cars were egged overnight between July 29 and July 30. The man said he didn't have any trouble with anyone in the neighborhood and couldn't figure out who would have thrown the eggs.
