CHICAGO HEIGHTS, IL β A crematory in Chicago Heights has been shut down after over 100 bodies were found in trailers, according to reports.
The Illinois Comptrollerβs Office is investigating whether Heights Crematory in the 200 block of East 11th Street mishandled the bodies, The Times of Northwest Indiana reported, adding the probe was launched in late February.
The business faces as much as $5,000 in penalties for each violation and could lose its license, according to the Daily Southtown, which reported the crematory has been banned from taking on new cases.

The crematory has been ordered to cremate the existing remains and was down to 23 bodies Tuesday, The Times reported, adding the bodies were discovered in sheets and bags inside the trailers.
