Park Forest Police Officer Tests Positive For Coronavirus
A police officer in Park Forest, which has the highest number of confirmed coronavirus cases in the south suburbs, has tested positive.

PARK FOREST, IL β A police officer in Park Forest has tested positive for the new coronavirus. The officer is the first known positive case within the Park Forest Police Department, Police Chief Christopher Mannino said Monday.
The officer who tested positive is recovering at home with moderate symptoms, Mannino said.
The officer's positive test comes amid a particular outbreak of the coronavirus in Park Forest. The village, as of Monday afternoon, had 223 positive cases of the coronavirus according to the Cook County Department of Public Health.

In Park Forest, 1,194 per 100,000 people have tested positive for the coronavirus. That's the highest rate among all municipalities in Cook County.

Mannino praised the team of Park Forest police for their dedication throughout the pandemic that's hit their town particularly hard.
"Throughout this ordeal I have seen our personnel, both sworn and civilian staff, continue to work with this increased risk without complaint," Mannino said.
