Police Blotter: Brothers Battle Over Dinner

SUNDAY, JAN. 22

DUI

Corey Walker, 37, of the 300 block of Boston Street, was arrested and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol after police stopped him in the 100 block of West 16th Street just after midnight, according to the report.

Battery

A 50-year-old Chicago Heights man told police he was eating dinner with his brother when his brother became angry because he would not prepare a plate of food for him. The angry brother then struck the victim in the face several times with his fist, before leaving the area, according to the report. The victim had several small lacerations on his face and a swollen left eye when police arrived, but refused medical assistance, according to the report.

DUI

Renee S. Aquilar, 44, of the first block of West Hickory Street, was arrested and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol after she was stopped in the first block of East 24th Street at 1:40 a.m., according to police.

FRIDAY, JAN. 20

Back for More Damage

A 29-year-old Chicago Heights woman told police she was in an argument with her boyfriend when he pulled out the hair extensions that made up her pony tail. He then struck her in the face and head with an open hand and, during the altercation, the woman's earring was pulled out, causing her to bleed, according to the report. The boyfriend fled before police arrive, but returned after they left and broke the woman's car window, according to the report.

Drug Paraphernalia

Michael K. Daniel, 46, of the 4000 block of Lindenwood Drive in Matteson, was arrested and charged with possession of drug paraphernalia after being stopped for faiure to signal, according to the report. In his front seat, police discovered two clear plastic bags with a white substance inside, whith they suspected to be cocaine, police said. Daniel told police he had the bags because he was "gettin' (it) from a girl and she smoked some rocks in his car and left them there," according to the report.

Suspended and Unyielding

David Q. Brimley, 27, of the 1300 block of Center Avenue, was arrested and charged with driving on a suspended license, no insurance, improper parking in roadway and failure to yield to an emergency vehicle after police found him parked in the middle of the street on 12th Street, according to the report. After police turned on their emergency lights Brimley traveled south on Center Avenue, eventually stopping at 13th and Center, police said. Asked why he did not stop upon seeing emergency lights, Brimley told police, "I did not stop because my license is suspended."

Brimley's passenger Dushawn Cook, 40, of the 1300 block of Lincoln Avenue, was also taken into custody due to having active warrant through the Chicago Heights Police Department.
