Stolen Cars
In two separate incidents, cars were stolen after being left running by the owners, according to police. A 28-year-old Chicago Heights woman told police her car was taken after she left it running in her driveway on Hickory Street. Additionally, a 35-year-old Chicago Heights woman told police her car was stolen after she left it running and unattended in an alley in the 100 block of East 21st Street, according to police.

Under the Influence of Drugs
Manuel Martinez, 40, 17800 block of Rose Avenue in Lansing, was arrested and charged with driving under the influence of drugs after he ran a stop sign at 15th Street and Shields Avenue before seeing police and stopping in the middle of the intersection, according to the report. As police approached his vehicle, Martinez raised his hands above his head and asked police "What the (expletive) did I do now?" He then refused field sobriety tests and told police he had taken Xanex and Vicodin and he had smoked cannabis. Asked to provide proof of insurance, Martinez handed police a large stack of papers and said, "Man, I can't find it. You look." He then handed police a valid insurance card, according to the report.
Battling Brothers
Antonio Dominguez, 21, of the 1300 block of Scott Avenue, was arrested and charged with domestic battery after his brother told police they were arguing and Dominguez punched him in the face several times, according to the report. The injured brother was taken to St. James and treated for several lacerations on his face, a swollen left eye and a bloody nose, police said.

Damaged Goods
Jaclyn C. Smith, 25, of the 11700 block of Ridgeland Avenue in Worth, was arrested and charged with damage to property after an employee of Walgreen's on Western Avenue told police she opened a box of vaginal contraceptive film, rendering it unsellable. The employee told police he believed she intended to steal the product, but said she never passed the last point of purchase.
