Police Blotter: Woman Follows Accused Drunken Driver Home

SUNDAY, MAY 20
Gun Threat
A 24-year-old Chicago Heights woman told police she was sitting on her front porch on 7th Place with her family when she heard glass break at the corner of 7th Place and Halsted Street. Four men in a white Nissan Sentra then drove east on 7th Place from Halsted and stopped in front of the woman's house. A man in the passenger's seat of the vehicle cursed at the woman before pointing a semi-automatic handgun at her, according to the report. The men then fled north on Union Avenue, police said.
DUI
Eric A. Johnson, 25, of the 300 block of Serena Drive, was arrested and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol after a 29-year-old Chicago Heights woman saw him run a red light and followed him home. The woman called the police, who met Johnson at his home address where he was passed out in his running car, according to the report. When Johnson woke up he was unaware of his surroundings or the time of day, police said. He smelled of alcohol and was unable to perform field sobriety tests, according to the report.

SATURDAY, MAY 19
Robbery
A 23-year-old Chicago Heights man told police he left Heights Fresh Market with another man at about 11 p.m. to look at a house. The two went southeast to the area of Halsted Street and Independence Drive where for other men were waiting for them. All of the men then allegedly began hitting the victim and took $5,000 before knocking him to the ground and fleeing, according to the report. Police saw bruises on the left side of the man's face but he refused medical attention.

'For What?'
Walter Pickens, 35, of the 8600 block of South University Avenue in Chicago, was arrested and charged with public intoxication and obstructing after police saw him arguing with a woman in front of a 19th Street house, according to the report. Police asked Pickens for his name, to which he responded "For what?" according to the report. Police then asked him for his ID, to which Pickens responded "Nah, for what. What did I do." Police smelled alcohol on Pickens and took him into custody, sending the woman he was arguing with on her way, according to the report.Β
Senior Threatened
Jeffrey N. Conway, 38, listed as homeless, was arrested and charged with assault after a 75-year-old Chicago Heights man told police he was on his property and would not leave. The man told police Conway was asked several times to leave and ended up threatening to kill the elderly man. A witness backed up the man's story, according to the report. Police said Conway appeared to be intoxicated at the time of arrest.
