Prosecutors Trying To Take House From Man Allegedly Caught With Pot

The Crete man was jailed on a felony pot charge and now prosecutors are trying to take away his house.

A Crete man jailed on a felony pot charge after police raided his place may now lose his house to prosecutors trying to seize the property.

Andrew Kitka, 23, was arrested on a class X felony charge of possession of cannabis with intent to deliver after police served a search warrant on his Herman Street house earlier this month.

Police found marijuana in Mason jars, a money counter, a cannabis blender, bundles of cash, scales, bulk marijuana and psilocybin mushrooms, according to court papers.

Prosecutors filed a complaint for forfeiture to take away Kitka’s home. A Dec. 23 court date was set for the case.

Kitka’s house was just purchased last month for $112,500, according to the real estate website Zillow.

Kitka was freed on $150,000 bond three days after his arrest.
